When it is necessary to install the Work Station Installation?

It is necessary to install this installation on all computers where MMS WIN is going to be ran if the System Administrator has not placed the VFP runtime files under the server \MMSWIN root directory. Or if the site has web-enabled MMS WIN by running CITRIX; this installation is required to be ran on the CITRIX server.

Preparing for Work Station Installation

By clicking on the link, the user will start the MMS Workstation Setup process.  This executable should be saved to your local computer. 

 

C:\TEMP is a suggested directory into  which the Wrkstasetup.exe  can be downloaded.  It's purpose is to load  onto your system, in a directory that you provide, all the necessary files that are needed to run the Work Station installation.

  1. After downloading the installation Wrkstasetup.exe file from the WEB, select the START button, then select 'RUN'.  The picture below depicts what to do next.

     

  2. Your system may have a newer file of the Install Shield.  If it does, the below message will appear.  Click OK to continue.   

 

 

 

 

 

  1. Follow install instructions to complete the installation.

  2. If a screen appears prompting you to restart your system, click Yes.  If a screen does not appear, select the Start button and select Shutdown.  Select Restart from the dropdown list.  
Creating a Compact Disk
  1. Go to the directory where you stored the wrkstasetup.exe.  
  2. Drag and drop this file onto a Writeable Compact Disk.

Post Installation Instructions

Once the computer has been restarted, a shortcut needs to be created on your desktop.  This shortcut will point to the MMS.EXE file under the \MMSWIN directory.   To create a shortcut, perform the following steps. 

  1. Locate and select the MMS.EXE file.  In a server installation it will be on the local area network server; ask your System Administrator for the correct directory.   

  2. Right click and drag it over to the desktop.   

  3. Select the option to "Create a shortcut(s) here".   

 

To start MMS, perform the following steps.

  1. Double click the icon you just created on the desktop. 

  2. Select the Data directory and click OK.  MMS will start. 

  3. Enter the Login ID and password.   
INSTALLATION OF THE 3 OF 9 BARCODE FONT

The 1348-1A document prints the NIIN and various other information in the barcode format.  For a user to have these print correctly, the 3 of 9 Barcode (TrueType) font needs to be added to the font library.  This font is automatically installed with the full and workstation installations of MMS and stored in the MMS WIN root directory.  To manually install the font on your work station from the START button, select the 'Settings' menu and then the control panel. Double Click on the FONTS icon. Select the 'File' dropdown menu and select the 'Install New Font' menu option. Change to the folder where MMS WIN was installed. The 3 of 9 Barcode (TrueType) font should appear in the list of fonts window. Select the font and click the OK button. The new font will now appear in the font folder.   The user can also drag and drop the 3of9new.tif file to the fonts directory located under there operating system directory.  The system will automatically install the font.
