| Question: | What hardware equipment does MMS require to handle barcode labels? |
| MMS handles
barcoded material in many different ways. The application can read barcode labels to
expedite batch and manual receiving, it can print barcode labels, and it can print
barcoded information on a 1348-1a and on selected reports. A keyboard laser scanner is needed to read barcode labels during a manual receipt. Any keyboard scanner will work as long as it reads Code 39 symbology. If you need a recommendation the MMS Development Team has been using the Welch/Allyn Scanteam 5400 laser for the last few years, model# 5400/A-12. An Intermec representative also recommended the Scanplus 1800 wedge (also known as Vista) because it reads both the current 3of9 barcode print ROMIS MMS uses and the new 2D barcode technology. Batch receiving requires the Intermec Janus 2020 hand-held data collection computer with a built-in laser scanner, model #J2020. Ensure you get the correct cable needed to hook the hand-held unit into a workstation computer to upload the batch receipt information. There are also several accessories available for this product, like a communications docking station. J2020's are no longer being produced; you can call Intermec and buy them used/refurbished OR you may use the newer Antares models. Printing barcode labels from MMS requires the Intermec Easycoder 3400 thermal printer or a newer Intermec printer which can emulate the Easycoder; i.e., PM4i Mid-Range printer. These printers offer several network interface options. MMS uses three different label stock types:
Each Part Number shown above is for a standard plain paper label. If a more durable or more resistant label is required Intermec does offer the Kimdura-type labels. These have been used in addition to the paper labels at several MMS sites. For more information visit the Intermec website at www.intermec.com and/or by calling an customer service representative at (800) 227-9947. Printing barcoded information on a 1348-1a or a report requires a laserjet printer. The Hewlett Packard 4 & 5 series are the preferred brand. |
|
| Question: | How do I print barcode labels at the time of receipt? |
| By ensuring that
MMS WIN is configured for this. There are 2 options where this can be
configured. a) Access the RECEIPT/ISSUE screen from the RECEIPT/ISSUE dropdown menu. Select the SETUP button. Click the "Print bar-code labels at the time of receipt" checkbox, then select the type of label to print. b) Access the RECEIPT/ISSUE CONFIGURATION from the SETUP dropdown menu. Select the SETUP button. Click the "Print bar-code labels at the time of receipt" checkbox, then select the type of label to print. |
|
| Question: | How do I setup my PM4i Mid-Range barcode printer for MMS WIN? |
|
The PM4i driver needs to be set to Generic Text and requires IPL firmware loaded on it. If it only has the Fingerprint or Direct Protocol firmware it will NOT print correctly; the IPL firmware can be downloaded from the Intermec webpage (www.Intermec.com <http://www.intermec.com/> ). Go to Downloads > Select Printer > Fixed Printer > Model PM4i. Scroll down to the OS/Firmware/Drivers section and select the IPL (PF/M/X series i.e, 2.xx) ver. 2.76.0 ver. 2.76 download. This should open in Zip format; there will be 3 files and you will Export the last file ending in _FD to your desktop. You will now have to type the IP address for the network printer in the Web Browser. As long as it is connected to the network it will pull up a page that will allow you to Browse for a file to be exported to the Printer; follow the easy directions. The printer will re-boot after the firmware is downloaded. Now change the Configuration on the printer. Go to Setup > Scroll Left one (1) time to Configuration. Keep hitting Enter until you reach Emulation mode; you will have the options: None, 5mil, 10mil, and 15mil. Choose the "None" option. Make sure the 'Print barcode labels...' question on the RECEIPT/ISSUE CONFIGURATION screen is checked. Choose a barcode printer for each label option using the dropdown list. Next select a default barcode label to print. You may also select how many labels to print. Checking the 'Print multiple labels for a quantity of 1' box will print five labels for a quantity of one (0001) instead of one label for a quantity of five (0005). NOTE: Once setup has been completed using one of the above options this does not have to be repeated unless a change is desired. Each user's printer option preferences are automatically retained once their selection is saved. |
|
| Question: | How do I setup my Easycoder 3400 Thermal barcode printer for MMS WIN? |
| The Intermec
barcode printer needs to be configured through the WINDOWS Print Manager to work with MMS
WIN. Go to the Print Manager and ADD a new printer using the Generic/Text Only print
driver. Configure the COM port of your Intermec printer to this new printer
icon. This should be completed for all workstations. MMS offers seven (7) label options utilizing three (3) different stock types. If desired, a site can set up multiple barcode printers to hold each stock type. If this is done remember to configure all three barcode printers for each workstation using the instructions in the paragraph above. Ensure each printer has it's own unique name. Next the user must setup MMS WIN to see the barcode printer. |
|
| Question: | How do I print barcode labels for material already stowed? |
| When clicking on the PRINT button on the RECEIPT/ISSUE screen, a pop-up window will appear with several options. Select the desired options and continue. To print for a single receipt, or all receipts for a single requisition, you must find the record first, then click the PRINT button. | |
| Question: | How do I configure my barcode printer and laser printer when remote computing? |
| This must be configured by each command on a case by case basis. Ensure the host server routes all printer commands to the local-remote computer. | |
| Question: | I get a 'write fault' error when trying to print barcode labels. |
| Your barcode printer is not connected correctly. Check the connections between the printer and the computer. Also check to see that the COM ports are configured correctly. Ensure that the barcode printer has been designated in the MMS Configuration screen. | |
| Question: | I have not received any errors, yet my barcode printer won't output any labels, or I get an error 1957. |
| Ensure that a
barcode printer is selected in the configuration screen. Click here |
|
| Question: | Why would my barcode label name/print disappear in the configuration screen? |
| When a user goes to
another work station which does not have their previously configured barcode printer name
and they edit the configuration screen, MMS will lose sight of the printer. At this
point you must access the RECEIPT/ISSUE CONFIGURATION screen and select a barcode printer
configured to the specific workstation. For more information on this, click here |
|
| Question: | Why does my report/1348-1a keep printing to a different printer? | ||||
| MMS prints these items to the default printer defined in the Windows Print Manager. Choose the new default printer you want the report/1348-1a to print to. | |||||
| Question: | How do I get my 1348-1a's and other reports to display the barcode? | ||||
| The barcode font is not installed on the work station. The 3 of 9 Barcode (TrueType) font needs to be added to the font library. From the START button, select the 'Settings' menu and then the control panel. Double Click on the FONTS icon. Select the 'File' dropdown menu and select the 'Install New Font' menu option. Change to the folder where MMS WIN was installed. The 3 of 9 Barcode (TrueType) font should appear in the list of fonts window. Select the font and click the OK button. The new font will now appear in the font folder. Once this is complete the barcode will appear on the 1348-1a forms and reports. | |||||
| Question: | When receiving material, my 1348-1a form is not printing out. What do I need to do? | ||||
| Their is a check box on the RECEIPT/ISSUE CONFIGURATION screen that allows the user to designate if they wish to print a 1348-1a at the time of receipt. The default for this check box is 'checked'. If this is checked, the 'print 1348-1a checkbox' on the receipt screen will automatically appear checked. If the user does not wish to print at the time of receipt, the check box in the RECEIPT/ISSUE CONFIGURATION screen should be unchecked. If this is unchecked the 'print 1348-1a checkbox' automatically appear unchecked. If the user wishes to print the current receipt, they can click the 'print 1348-1a checkbox' at this time. | |||||
| Question: | Can I print multiple 1348-1A forms? | ||||
Yes, by clicking
the PRINT button on the RECEIPT/ISSUE screen. A from will pop-up with the option of
printing out a barcode label or printing a 1348-1a document. Select the 1348-1a
document option and click the OK button. The laser printer will output 1 copy of the
form for each issue related to the current record. To print more then 1 copy the
user must setup there printer accordingly.
You are now ready to print multiple copies of the 1348-1a
document. |
|||||
| Question: | I keep getting a write error when trying to install the new version of MMS WIN. | ||||||
| Your logon may not have the proper write authority to the MMS WIN directory. Have your site network Administrator check your logon properties. You have to have the ability to write to the MMS WIN directory. | |||||||
| Question: | I keep getting an error 3 while running reports. Why? | ||||||
| Have your system administrator check to make sure there are no spaces or special characters in your username. | |||||||
| Question: | I keep getting an error 39 (numeric overflow - data was lost). What do I do? | ||||||
| This error will occur when a numeric field exceeds the total amount allowed. i.e. If the quantity received on a single requisition exceeds more than '99999' the program will place asterisks (*****) in the field instead of the numeric quantity. This could cause a error 9 (data type mismatch) to occur later when running other options within the MMS WIN system. The user must check to see if receipt quantities, allowance quantities, and order quantities have a cumulative total of more than '99999'. The unit price field can also cause a problem if the unit price multiplied by the quantity received exceeds the field size for the total price field. You must find another way to receive the material, i.e. change the Unit of Issue (U/I) to receive by roll vice feet. Make a memo indicating the original unit price and/or quantity. | |||||||
| Question: | I received an error 41 (memo file is missing or is invalid). What is wrong? | ||||||
There are 3 .DBF
files that have an associated .FPT file. See below for process to follow for the
.DBF that is missing/corrupted.
|
|||||||
| Question: | I received an 'insufficient memory error', what do I do? | ||||||
| Too many programs may be running concurrently. Close other programs running concurrently with MMS WIN. | |||||||
| Question: | I received an error 15 (Not a table), what do I do? | ||||||
| The file may have a corrupted header or it may not have been converted to the VFP format. VFP looks at the header of a file to determine what type of file it is. The header can become corrupted when an abnormal exit occurs, i.e., such as rebooting the computer when MMS WIN is running. Normal exits from the program ensure the header of the data files are updated and the files are properly closed. Restore the corrupted file from the last known good back-up and reindex. | |||||||
| Question: | I get a error 56 (out of disk space), what do I do? | ||||||
| Have the ADP department review the amount of disk space allotted to MMS WIN operations. This may have to be increased. The data directory may need to be 'cleaned' of erroneous files. To ensure that the correct files are deleted, contact MMS Technical Support at helpdesk@romis.com or (858)569-3524. | |||||||
| Question: | Why do I get an error 1221 (Command is missing required clause) when sending my USER DEFINED REPORT to an ASCII text file or a DBF file? | ||||||
| Ensure that the file name does not contain special characters, (like: '-', '&', etc, or spaces) and the file name does not start with a numeric character. This is a problem that is being addressed at this time. | |||||||
| Question: | What do I do if I received an error 1103 (Invalid seek offset) when trying to use MMS? | ||||||
| You need to rebuild
your compound index files (*.CDX) because one or more have become corrupted. This
happens if a 'slow' network drops the MMS WIN connection. It is easily fixed by
ensuring all users are off MMS WIN, deleting all *.CDX in the data directory which
generated this error, and restarting MMS (MMS will rebuild any *.CDX files missing).
Note: Do not delete the CDXs in the directories located under the MMS <data> directory, i.e. the MMSUSER directory. |
|||||||
| Question: | Why do I get an error 36 (Command contains unrecognized phrase/keyword) when trying to load a file into MMS WIN or when MMS WIN is trying to output a file? | ||||||
| Ensure that there are no 'spaces' found in the path where the file is located or being written to, i.e. a file located under "My Documents" would cause this error. Copy the file to another directory and then run the process where the problem occurred. | |||||||
| Question: | Why do I get an
'invalid password entered' when trying to accomplish certain tasks in
MMS?
|
||||||
| You
are missing the ALEN.DLL file that belongs in the \MMSWIN root
directory. This is a file that comes with the installation
executable. NOTE: Please send an EMAIL to MMS Technical Support at helpdesk@romis.com letting us know which process was running when you received the error. If the process is Status Load, IF1 or User Defined Report, this error has already been addressed in MMS WIN Version 4.3. |
|||||||
| Question: | Why is the NIIN field blank in the Transaction screen when all the other information is there? |
| The NIIN record for this transaction record has either been deleted or no longer exists in the Inventory file in MMS WIN. Add the NIIN and subsequent NIIN information back into the Inventory file using the INVENTORY option from the REFERENCE dropdown menu, INVENTORY FILE MAINTENANCE sub menu. | |
| Question: | When trying to view a record in MMS WIN utilizing the FIND options, the record is not found. I know that the record exists. What do I do? |
| Reindex MMS WIN. Select the REINDEX option from the TOOLS dropdown menu. This will reindex the files. If the problem persists, run the PACK/REINDEX process from the TOOLS dropdown menu, using the REINDEX option. This will recreate the CDX files. | |
| Question: | I'm in the ADD/EDIT mode of the Transaction screen. I make a change to the Required Delivery Date (RDD) in the MILSTRIP. After saving the transaction the RDD reverts back to the original Julian Date, why? |
| The RDD is programmed to be 30 days before the start of the availability. To change this to the desired Julian Date, insert the calendar date, i.e. 01/01/99, in the RQ DL DT field on the New Construction page or Repair/Overhaul page. MMS WIN will convert it to the correct Julian Date in the MILSTRIP information. | |
| Question: | How do I fill the RDD field in the MILSTRIP block with a special RDD code, i.e. 999, X14, etc? This is required on my MILSTRIP output. |
| MMS WIN treats this information differently than a normal Julian Date. Enter the RDD code in the RDD field in the MILSTRIP block. Once you have completed your transaction, MMS WIN will automatically convert the information to the Date Required in the RQ DL DT field on the New Construction page or the Repair/Overhaul page. | |
| Question: | How come the SAVE and REVERT buttons are disabled when I am adding or editing a record in the transaction screen? How can I save my changes? |
| If the user switches between the New Construction and Repair/Overhaul pages on the transaction when in the ADD/EDIT mode, these buttons will be disabled. They will be enabled again when the user returns to the original page the ADD/EDIT was initiated in. The data can only be saved or reverted when the user is on the original page. | |
| Question: | There are no buttons on the screen that allows me to access the Material Purchase Description screen or the Unit of Issue Conversion screen. How do I access these features? |
| These functions are available by hitting your right-click button on your mouse or hitting SHIFT+F10 on your keyboard. This will display a shortcut menu with these and the other screen options. | |
| Question: | Why doesn't MMS WIN have shortcut keys. | |
| If you are running Windows 2000 you may not see your shortcut keys until you click the 'ALT' button. This can be turned on if you do the following: | ||
| Right click on the
desktop. Click on 'PROPERTIES'. Select the 'EFFECTS' page. Ensure that the 'Hide keyboard navigation indicators until I use the Alt key' is not checked. Click on the 'APPLY' button. Click 'OK' to exit. |
||
| Question: | How do run MMS WIN from my Desktop? | |
| Create a short cut for MMS WIN through Windows. Once the shortcut is created, right click on the icon and select properties. Click on the Shortcut Tab. Ensure that the Startup Directory is the MMS WIN main directory, i.e. "\MMSWIN". To change the ICON, select "Change Icon", then select "Browse". Highlight the MMS.ICO file and click open. Next click "OK", then click the APPLY button and CLOSE. | ||
| Question: | How do I create a new 'data' directory? | |
| From the Tools menu, select FILE CONVERSION (FOXPRO/VISUAL). Click on the 'NEW DIRECTORY NAME' button. Enter the name you would like the new directory to be called and click the SAVE button. Next click on the 'RUN' button. A new directory will be created with all the necessary files to run MMS WIN. From this point, the user can choose to convert MMS 3.2 data into the new directory or begin entering data in this directory. Run the file conversion or EXIT MMS and restart it by selecting the newly created directory. | ||
| NOTE: Once the new directory is created and, if desired, the conversion is complete, the user must exit MMS WIN and restart, selecting the new directory to view converted data or add new information. | ||
| Question: | After running the file conversion, I do not see the converted data. | |
| Remember to exit MMS WIN and restart by selecting the new directory. The data should be there. | ||
| Question: | When using the USER DEFINED REPORT, I do not get the data I want, why? |
| Check to ensure you have
used the correct status filter options. Make sure the DEN's selected contain the information you are looking for. There are 2 UIC DENs, A002 and A002R. If you select A002 the information will be pulled from the STAT file. If you use A002R, the information will be pulled form the TRAN file. |
|
| Question: | Why do the changes that I make to the column heading in the LAYOUT page of the USER DEFINED REPORT take sometimes and not others? |
| Ensure that when you are making changes to a column hading that the item you are changing has a dashed box around it. If this box is not there, your changes will not take effect. | |
| Question: | How come my USER DEFINED REPORT keeps changing? I'll select certain fields, yet the next time I modify it, the fields that are selected are not the same. |
| What may be happening is another user modified your report to your needs. MMS WIN stores all of the report files in the same directory, 'REPORTS'. When creating a report, it is important to name the report something unique. One way to personalize your report name is to start it with your initials. | |
| Question: | How come my Field Size keeps getting lost in the USER DEFINED REPORT? |
| The user either added or removed a field after the field sizes were set. Before doing the field size, ensure that you have selected all of the desired fields. If you add or remove fields to the report at any time, the field sizes will be lost and have to be reset. | |
| Question: | Why do I get an error 1221 (Command is missing required clause) or an error 3 (File is in Use) when sending my USER DEFINED REPORT to an ASCII text file or a DBF file? |
| Ensure that the file name does not contain special characters, (like: '-', '&', etc, or spaces) and the file name does not start with a numeric character. | |
| Question: | Every time I try to run a query on a date I get an error 107 (Operator/Operand type mismatch). What do I do. |
| In the query option enter the following: CTOD("00/00/00") where 00/00/00 is the date you wish to query on. | |
| Question: | When I access the BROWSE screen no data appears. How do I get the data to appear? |
| The Browse screen opens without any data to facilitate faster screen processing. To view MMS records click on the FIND option and then choose the SEARCH button. A message will appear indicating that MMS WIN is loading the browse screen information. | |
| Question: | When in BROWSE the information appear in Requisition Sequence. How do I change view the records in another sequence? |
| The user can change the sequence that the information appears by clicking on the COLUMN HEADER of the field that he wants to be indexed by. The only fields that do not have an associated index are the QTY fields. If the user clicks on the NIIN column heading, the data will appear in NIIN sequence, ascending. If the user clicks the NIIN column heading a second time, the data will appear in NIIN sequence, descending order. This capability allows the user to view the data from the top or bottom of the file. | |
| Question: | Some of my XQD records are not being outputted. How do I ensure all my XQD's are exported? |
| XQD's are created for each receipt record posted against a Transaction. The Transaction record must have the Routing Identifier field (RIC) filled out in the MILSTRIP Information block. The XQD process creates XQD output files based on the RIC classification. | |
| Question: | When creating XQD records my suffixes are not appearing correctly. How can I correct this? |
| The user must input the suffix at the time of receipt for it to show on the XQD record. If the user edits the receipt to add a suffix, the XQD record will not show the suffix. | |
| Question: | MMS 3.2 had an option to print screen. How do I do this in MMS WIN? |
| MMS WIN utilizes
the Windows environment. To print the current screen, from the keyboard hit the
PRINT SCREEN button while holding down the ALT key or the CTRL key. The ALT key will
capture only the screen the user is accessing at the time. The CTRL key will capture
all the windows that can be seen on the monitor screen. Once the user has hit the
PRINT SCREEN/ALT keys, start WINWORD or WORDPAD and then click on the paste button or on
the keyboard type CTRL and V. This will paste the captured screen. The user
can then save the picture or print it from WINWORD/WORDPAD. This PRINT SCREEN option
is available in all MMS WIN screens. There is a print screen shareware that gives the user the capability of printing a screen directly to the printer. The software is called PrintKey. Click here Print Screen Shareware Site to connect to the PrintKey shareware site. |
|
| Question: | MMS gave me an error message during my process, but the process allowed me to continue; should I be concerned? | ||||||||||||||
Anytime you get an error in MMS you should be concerned. Review the FAQ document for possible explanations. If your error message/error situation is not shown here, contact the MMS Technical Support Team to discuss your specific situation. The MMS team member can let you know if the completion of the process |
|||||||||||||||
| Question: | How do I send reports to disk? | ||||||||||||||
| Use the Windows
Print Manager or the MMS 'Create ASCII text file' option to do this. To use Windows add a new printer to your Print Manager using the same print driver of your existing laser printer. Choose "FILE" as the assigned COM port. After creating this new printer, make it the 'default' printer for your workstation. Enter MMS WIN, run the desired report, and print the report. When complete, reset your normal printer as your 'default' printer. This needs to be done for any workstation printing reports to file. This option saves printer specifications, like layout orientation and page break information, to the file and allows other users with the same printer to reprint the report. Choose the 'Create ASCII text file' option on any of the MMS reports to produce a text file of the report information. This option strips printer-language specifications from the report and is most often used to manipulate the report data. |
|||||||||||||||
| Question: | Why do I have to re-enter all the group code and configuration information, for Excess Turnin, when I had already completed this in MMS 3.2? | ||||||||||||||
The Excess Turnin 'MEM' files need to be
moved to the new 'data' directory. After the 'data' directory has been converted, it
is recommended that the user copy over the following files:
Do not copy the following 'MEM' files to the new 'data' directory. VER.MEM, ACTIVITY.MEM, HOLDCODE.MEM, CRSPTYPE.MEM, WHRISET.MEM, GOODUI.MEM, BFORMAT.MEM, and FB_ADDR.MEM. These will be taken care of through MMS WIN. |
|||||||||||||||
| Question: | Why can't I access certain buttons? They appear to be disabled. | ||||||||||||||
A shaded-out (or
disabled) button, field or menu item indicates it is not accessible to the user.
There are several reasons for this. Below are just a few of the reasons:
|
|||||||||||||||
| Question: | My system keeps hanging up when I run the Re-Index option. What can I do? | ||||||||||||||
| If at all possible DO NOT REBOOT YOUR SYSTEM. If you have to REBOOT, you may corrupt your files. A numeric overflow problem will cause MMS WIN to hang up when reindexing your files. A corrupted file could also cause this problem. Take care of the numeric overflow or corrupted files and then reindex. If running from Windows 95, try to end the task by pressing CTRL/ALT/DEL first. A window should appear asking if you would like to end the task. If running Windows NT, right click on the status bar and select the Task Manager from the menu. From the APPLICATIONS tab, Highlight MMS and click on the END TASK button. If this does not work and you have to reboot, make a note of the file that was indexing at the time the system hung up. This may point you to the file that contains corrupted data or a numeric overflow. | |||||||||||||||
| Question: | How do I 'hold back' certain records in the FTE process? | ||||||||||||||
| Don't add the COG into the COG reference file. If it already exists, delete it from the COG reference file. | |||||||||||||||
| Question: | Why did I get duplicate requisitions after loading my IF1 file? | ||||||||||||||
| If you already have duplicate requisitions, you must restore your previous backup and run the IF1 again. When loading the IF1 file, ensure that you do not have any overlapping serial numbers between UIC/COARs. This can be reviewed on the left side of the screen under the MTRL/GRP caption. | |||||||||||||||
| Question: | The Cumulative total for Material Staging is incorrect. | ||||||||||||||
| A COAR (Material Group) may have been put to history with records that had receipt/issues for the current fiscal year. Restore the files from history using the HISTORY process from the TOOLS dropdown menu, then rerun the Material Staging report. | |||||||||||||||
| Question: | The quantity on-hand has a negative value or the quantity values are different than the actual receipt/issue lines when I view the record on the Transaction or Receipt/Issue screens. | ||||||||||||||
| To correct the values, run the QUANTITY RECONCILIATION process from the TOOLS dropdown menu. Ensure that you backup the TRAN.DBF, STAT.DBF, and INVN.DBF files before running. | |||||||||||||||
| Question: | Why do I have zero-named files (0*.*) in my MMS data directory? | ||||||||||||||
| These are temporary files used by MMS to process data. They are normally deleted by MMS when the process using them is complete, but an error or abnormal server time-out could unexpectedly stop the MMS WIN process resulting in 'leftover' temporary files. These files can be deleted from your data directory once ALL users are off the system. It is good maintenance policy for your ADP department to do this periodically to ensure these files are not using up required disk space. | |||||||||||||||
| Question: | I'm having a problem downloading the INTERMEC PCIRL file onto the handheld. | ||||||||||||||
| Ensure that PCDRIVER.SYS and ANSI.SYS are set in the CONFIG.SYS file using the 'DEVICE = ' command. Check the CONFIG.SYS file to see if the SETVER command has been initialized, it could cause a problem with the download process. remove this command and reboot the system. | |||||||||||||||
| Question: | When running Output Requisition (N/C Supply System Process), I receive a message stating "Supply system output cancelled - APL file ..\DATA\APL99999 does not exist." I click the OK button and the next message appears, "Unable to process report, the cross reference file "APL99999" does not exist." What do I do? | ||||||||||||||
| Copy the APLNIIN file from a MMS 3.2 <DATA> directory and rename it "APL99999" where 99999 is equal to the UIC you are trying to output. | |||||||||||||||
| Question: | How do I consolidate my material into one warehouse location? | ||||||||||||||
| When receiving
material in the Receipt/Issue screen the user is provided the existing location
information in a dropdown list. The user can easily stow the new material in the
same location. The user can also run the WAREHOUSE LOCATION report from the REPORTS
dropdown menu. This report can be printed in location sequence. The user has
the option of printing a single UIC, COAR and LOCAL CODE. Once the report is printed
the user can use the information to consolidate the material. If there material is
moved, the user can edit the receipt and enter it's new location. Use the EDIT
button in the RECEIPT/ISSUE screen. Or use the LOCATE option to batch change
locations on all receipts posted against a Transaction. NOTE: This is a batch process that will replace all presently used locations. Use this with care. |
|||||||||||||||
| Question: | How do I print the Sole Source and Vendor information from a Material Request? | ||||||||||||||
| Once the request
has been approved the user can go to the Transaction Screen, locate the requisition by
utilizing the FIND option, then click on the PRINT button. If Material Request
information is available, the user will be prompted to print M & P information.
The Material and Progress Sheet and Vendor information will appear. At this point
the user can review the information to ensure it is what they wish to print and then
either click on |
|||||||||||||||
| Question: | Why do I get the message 'This is an MMSWIN reserved directory' when trying to save a file/get a file? | ||||||||||||||
| MMS has reserved the \MMSWIN root and all \MMSWIN\<data> directories. The MMS application uses these directories exclusively and does not allow files non-created MMS files to be stored here. Please save/get all files in the \MMSIN or \MMSOUT directory under each data directory. | |||||||||||||||
| Question: | What files reside in the MMSWIN reserved directories? | ||||||||||||||
| The \MMSWIN root, or application, directory holds non-data specific files such as MMS.EXE. The individual data directories that reside under the \MMSWIN directory hold the actual data information in tables. Authorized table and their structures can be viewed in the MMS User's Manual, Appendix E. | |||||||||||||||
| Question: | I accidentally set up the wrong records for issue in the Batch Issue By Selection Criteria screen. Can these issues be backed out of MMS? | ||||||||||||||
| Most issue processes in MMS automatically issue out the material at the time of request, but this process is different. When the user initially runs the process it looks for all records that 'can' be issued and stores it in a file named IssFile.dbf in the data directory. The 'Number of 1348 to process' textbox shows how many records will be issued when the user hits the RUN button. This file stays active until all the material is issued. If there are records in this database table that should not be issued your System Administrator can delete this file. This allows new criteria to be chosen and the process to be run again. NOTE: ANY MATERIAL ACTUALLY ISSUED OUT OF MMS CAN NOT BE BACKED OUT UNLESS IT IS DONE MANUALLY. | |||||||||||||||
