1. DOWNLOADING
FILES/INSTALLING
- Select the link to download the New Installation
file or the Update Installation setup file.

- Double click on Mmssetup.exe in the temporary
directory or use the Run window in the Start menu.

- The MMS's prompts will guide the user through the
installation.
- The program will default to the C:\MMSWIN
directory.
- A CD of the complete installation can be made
using the instructions in paragraph 2 below.

2. CREATE AN OPTIONAL
CD COPY
- Go to the directory where you installed the
Mmssetup.exe installation file.
- Ensure a writeable CD is loaded in your CD
read/write drive.
- Using Windows Explorer, drag and drop the
Mmssetup.exe onto the Compact Disk drive.

3. CREATION OF SECURITY FILES
- New Install - Refer to MMS Security Guide and/or your MMS
System Administrator.
- Upgrade - Security files created in MMS
5.2 installation will be used in MMS 5.3.
- The user's guide page contains a
Menu
Access Matrix that summarizes the menu access of each security level.

4. LAUNCHING MMS
From the "Start Menu" choose
"Programs" then "MMSWIN" then select the MMSWIN icon; or launch
the file "MMS.exe" from Windows Explorer. You can also create a shortcut
on the desktop that will start MMS. Once you've located the MMS.EXE, right click and
drag it to the desktop. Select the option to "Create shortcut(s)
here".

5. FIRST
USE
The first time MMS is launched, the program goes
through a table creation and indexing process. This will take a few seconds. When complete,
user will be prompted to enter User Login (see your Administrator), followed by the
Activity screen, and finally the MMS Configuration screen.

6. USER SETUP
The first time MMS is operated it includes an
administrator user profile. Please refer to the Security Users Manual for security setup
and explanation of security levels.

7. CONFIGURATION SCREEN
The first time MMS is operated, it will
automatically prompt the user to enter Configuration information. This information is
necessary for accurate accounting, receipt and issue. Chapter 5-Setup and Conversion of
the MMS Users Manual details each window and entry options required.

The Site ID is a 2 digit identifier of your
site. The Site RTE ID is a routing ID of up to 3 digits that must be included if
processing Government Owned Material (GOM). The Req UIC will be the default UIC and
will be the start of all requisition numbers unless otherwise inputted. The Mat'l
Loc UIC will be the issue address on 1348-1A documents. This will be matched with
the corresponding UIC and address entered later in the UIC address file. When
complete the Configuration screen can be closed and the full menu bar will be available
for use.

8.
INSTALLATION 3 OF 9 BARCODE FONT
The 1348-1A document prints the
NIIN and various other information in the barcode format. For
a user to have these print correctly, the 3 of 9 Barcode (TrueType)
font needs to be added to the font library. This font is
installed with the full installation of MMS and stored in the MMS
WIN root directory. To install the font on you work station
from the START button, select the 'Settings' menu and then the
control panel. Double Click on the FONTS icon. Select the 'File'
dropdown menu and select the 'Install New Font' menu option. Change
to the folder where MMS WIN was installed. The 3 of 9 Barcode
(TrueType) font should appear in the list of fonts window. Select
the font and click the OK button. The new font will now appear in
the font folder. The user can also drag and drop the
3of9new.tif file to the fonts directory located under there
operating system directory. The system will automatically
install the font.
