MMS WIN Requirements
This page contains information for the MMS WIN Hardware, Installation, and Accessing requirements.

Hardware Requirements:

Windows 95 & Higher/Windows NT 3.51 & Higher Operating Systems,  Mouse, 10 MB RAM (Random Access Memory), 15 MB available Hard Drive Space, VGA or Higher resolution monitor, Desktop Display setting at least 800x600 pixels.

Installation Requirements:

A full installation for the latest major release, e.g.., 5.5.00, must be installed on the server machine. Follow the instructions to restart your server.   The user may then download a copy of the newest patch files to the root \MMSWIN folder on the server.

A shortcut needs to be created on your desktop.  This shortcut will point to the MMS.EXE file under the \MMSWIN directory.   To create a shortcut, perform the following steps.

  1. Locate and select the MMS.EXE file.  In a server installation it will be on the local area network server; ask your System Administrator for the correct directory.

  2. Right click and drag it over to the desktop.

  3. Select the option to "Create a shortcut(s) here".

Create a desktop shortcut for each  workstation to allow network access to the MMS WIN data files and application.

To start MMS, perform the following steps.

  1. Double click the icon you just created on the desktop.

  2. Select the Data directory and click OK.  MMS will start.

  3. Enter the Login ID and password.
NOTE: Site administrators need to contact the MMS Support Team for Administrator login information for new installations.

MMS WIN can be installed on a standalone machine; install the latest major release, then download the newest patches.

MMS WIN can be web-enabled through CITRIX server. Install MMS WIN on a data server then use the Workstation installation exe to register the application's runtime files onto the CITRIX server.

Access Requirements:

Follow the instructions on the screen. You will be prompted to install MMS WIN in the "C:\MMSWIN" directory.  If this is an upgrade installation, install in the same folder as the previously installed version. Once the installation is complete, create a shortcut to run MMS WIN from an icon or run MMS WIN from START Button.

NOTE: Select the program group that was designated in the installation, if different then MMSWIN.

Creating Directories for MMS WIN data

  1. Click on the \Tools option in the main menu.
  2. Click on the \New <Data> Directory Creation submenu item from the drop down menu.
  3. Brings up the New Dir/Dos Conversion screen.
  4. Type in a name to describe the new data folder's information.
  5. Hit the RUN button; this creates the new data directory.
Sites with remote users must install the "Work Station" on the Remote Application Server.
When the user installs MMSWIN, two (2) directories will automatically be created for ROMISVIS.  They are  'VIN' and 'VOUT'.  Sites that are processing ROMISVIS data can use these directories or create there own.  These may hold RRAM/VSOM files from multiple MMS WIN data folders.
